Jessica Gabriel is a multidisciplinary artist from the Sunshine Coast BC, currently working as a life model and puppeteer on the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Tsleil-Watuth, and Squamish Nations aka Vancouver, Canada.
Jessica has a painting degree, a clown diploma, a permaculture design certificate, and since 2003 is co-artistic director, creator with Mind of a Snail.
Jessica is a founding member of the ASSEMBLY: a feminist collective of self-identified clowns; and she also performs experimental music/found sounds under the name “tay_ploops” (pronounced tape loops).
The roots of her language are 10+ years of french immersion; and before that she learned sign language from the cat. Jessica’s first spoken word was “bird”; and she still often tweets.
Jessica has a strong affinity to the natural whirl’d & can be found crawling the ground with many feelers, collecting and layering debris onto her homemade shell.. . .
