Jessica Gabriel is a queer mixed media multidisciplinary artist from the Sunshine Coast BC, currently working as a life model and puppeteer on the unceded traditional territory of the Musqueam, Tsleil-Watuth, and Squamish Nations. (Vancouver, Canada)
Jessica has a painting degree, a clown diploma, a permaculture design certificate, and since 2003 is co-artistic director, creator with Mind of a Snail.
Jessica is a founding member of the ASSEMBLY: a lofty and playful intersectional feminist collective of self-identified clowns. She also makes experimental found sounds under the name “tay_ploops”.
The roots of their language are 10+ years of french immersion; and before that she learned sign language from the cat. Jessica’s first word was “bird” and she still often tweets.
